The Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards (APICTA Awards) is an international awards program which aims to increase ICT awareness in the community and assist in bridging the digital divide. It provides the platform to catalyse and recognise indigenous ICT innovations and to stimulate economic & workforce development, trade relations and technology collaboration in the Asia Pacific region. Since 2001, member economies will nominate the the winners of similar awards programs and company in each member economy. All nominees will then travel to the awards location where they present their solution to a panel of judges from every member-economy. This year, APICTA 2016 has over 200 teams from 17 economies compete with each other in 17 different categories, from e-Learning, research, school project to tourism, retail, finance, government, etc.
Hong Kong, one of busiest commercial and financial centers in Asia, has join APICA for over 14 years. For 4 years in a row, HK has had the best performance in a number of awards among all the competing APICTA economies. This year, around 30 teams from Hong Kong participated in the APICTA Awards hosted in Taipei. Our team, Knowledge and Education Exchange Platform (KEEP) was proud to represent Hong Kong to compete in eLearning Category. We presented our project to 5 professionals judges from various economies and industries. On the last night, all the Hong Kong teams also had the opportunity to showcase our projects to all judges, professors, teachers, students, industry partners at the event.
Although we did not win the award this year, it was a great opportunity for us to showcase our project to all others educators, learners, and IT professionals. We also learned a lot from the examples of an international academic-industry collaboration opportunity from other teams from 4G Mobile Innovation Forum and ICT conference. There were also many opportunities to exchange ideas with other teams and discuss new technology advancements with different companies and groups. We also built friendships among participants from many networking sessions, parties and gala dinner. We would like to congratulate all winners and merit teams especially those 10 teams from Hong Kong!
