Meet our speakers
Prof. Adam Fingrut
The first seminar features Prof. Adam Fingrut from the School of Architecture at CUHK.
Adam Fingrut is an Assistant Professor and researcher in architecture at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), with a teaching and research focus on computation, fabrication, and construction systems.
Adam has pioneered the use of VR and other immersive technologies in his classrooms and will discuss how he uses these innovative techniques to elevate his students’ understand of virtual and material spaces. He has many fascinating insights and practical advice to share for any educators or students interested in one of education’s new frontiers.
Dr. Ervi Liusman
The second seminar features Dr. Ervi Liusman from the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at CUHK.
She has developed three sets of VR trails: “A Walk in CBD and Wanchai District”, “Peak Galleria” and “Central Market”. Students can easily teleport from one location to another anytime to observe the city’s landscape and explore the architectural spaces. There are also interactive descriptive information for students to learn about the design and functions of these spaces and how they are managed. Moreover, VR can further enhance the student learning through “Internationalization of Curriculum” and “Student-as-Partners (SaP)”.
Prof. Siu Cheung KONG
The third featured speaker is Prof. SC Kong from the Education University of Hong Kong.
His talk will share the development of metaverse literacy of a University in Hong Kong. He’ll introduce three metaverse-related activity rooms for demonstrating immersive learning and STEM activities. One of the activity rooms is the extended reality room for group activities. He will then share teaching and learning activities organized for staff and students to experience those popular virtual reality technologies and metaverse platforms for teaching and learning.
Prof Kong will also highlight a research agenda on maximizing the effectiveness of blending physical and virtual learning through a metaverse platform.
